The Creative Cafe at Washington Hall
Creative Cafe is a partnership between Black Power Unlimited (BPU) and Creative Justice (CJ). Located on the first floor of Washington Hall in the Central District of Seattle, and is operated by Creative Justice staff and youth.
Black Power Unlimited is an anchor tenant of Washington Hall and played a key role in the renovation and preservation of the space. BPU continues to build on the vision of Rahwa Habte, one of its founders, a beloved community organizer and cultural innovator who transitioned to be with our ancestors in 2020.
In the spirit of Rahwa's work and commitment to community we aim to continue to build and sustain an intergenerational space for artists and cultural workers from the Black and African Diaspora to thrive.
Together BPU and CJ sought to revitalize the space, reopen the Cafe, and fortify this intergenerational space in the historically Black Central District of Seattle.
The Creative Cafe had its grand opening on Martin Luther King Jr Day 2024.

Creative Cafe is a partnership between Black Power Unlimited (BPU) and Creative Justice (CJ). Located on the first floor of Washington Hall in the Central District of Seattle, Creative Cafe employs youth and young adults who have participated in Creative Justice as Creative Cafe Interns. Interns participate in our barista training program, a workers rights curriculum and learn how to cultivate community spaces that focus on connections, healing, arts and culture, and strengthening accountable relationships.

Creative Cafe Subscriptions are for people who love coffee and art and want to support our programming! You can pick a subscription tier for receiving monthly coffee and/or art prints from art made in our day-to-day programming here at Creative Justice.

NOTE: Subscriptions for the Coffee Connoisseur started after the 2nd Monday of the month will be honored starting the proceeding month. The subscriber can still receive their free drink, discount and bag of Creative Cafe blend, but will not be able to receive the Fulcrum Coffee selected by Daniel until the following month.
All proceeds support The Creative Cafe and Creative Justice programming for youth and young adults impacted by carceral systems.
